L’étreinte (in English, The Embrace) by Pablo Picasso
This piece by Mr. Picasso (dated 1901) clearly depicts the influence art nouveau and impressionism had on his early works, and this image in particular hints at the approaching arrival of the artist’s revolutionary Blue Period. Full of painterly applications of color, our eye is immediately drawn to the subject matter - an embracing couple’s intimate exhange. This is most certainly one of my favorite pieces by Pablo Picasso.
